If the following is unclear, please contact us for assistance.
To calculate how many tiles you need to cover your floor or display area:
- Measure the width and length of the area you will be covering.
- Round each measurement up to the nearest whole number. For example, a measurement of 18'4" (18 feet 4 inches) would be rounded up to 19 feet.
- Multiply the width by the length. The result is the number of tiles you need to cover the area measured.
-
If you are purchasing multipurpose garage tile, divide the result from step 3 by 40 to determine the number of boxes of tile needed. If purchasing automotive tile flooring, divide the result from step 3 by 20. Round any fraction up to the next whole number. If you will be cutting any tile (around steps or other obstacles), we recommend ordering one additional box per 1000 tiles needed.
- For a checkerboard pattern, you will need half of the total number of tiles in each color. For example, you will need 250 black tiles and 250 gray tiles to cover a 500 ft² area with a black and gray checkerboard pattern.
- Edge pieces are needed where the tile edge will be exposed (i.e. not bordered by a wall). There are two types of edge pieces. Refer to the images above and below to determine whether you need loop edge, peg edge or both. Corner pieces are needed where two exposed edges meet.

Refer to the images below to see how easy our modular tile flooring is to install yourself.
Start in the back left corner of the area to be covered. Lay each tile with the pegs on the back and left sides and the loops on the front and right sides of the tile.Hold the tile at an angle as shown above and insert the pegs of the tile you are holding into the loops of the tile on the ground.
Lay the tile on the ground and step on the edge of the tile to snap the pegs into the loops. Continue in this manner until the area is covered. If necessary, tiles may be cut with a
jig or skill saw with a fine tooth blade. Neccesary cuts should be made to tiles adjacent to a wall so that edge pieces can be inserted into the uncut edge of your tile floor. Finally, insert the edge and corner pieces. Your new floor is complete!
